When posting for your classes, you have many different options. One option is to start a new discussion about a new topic, whereas you can also reply to discussions started by your instructor. Finally, you can also ask a question. Below, we will be covering some components which are necessary regardless of if you are commenting or if you are writing a post. The only difference is that in a post you will need to add a title (same in a question). Please see another tutorial for how the question feature works!
Firstly, you can give the post or comment content. Simply type into the box, and then use the other features listed in the footer. When you want to type text, you can also add a multitude of features. In order to see these features, elect the text you have written which you want to apply a certain feature to. You will get a bar like this above the text:

The first option allows you to make your text bold, the second allows you to make it italic, and the third allows you to underline the text. After this, you can choose your text colour (please make it visible!), the fill colour (so you can highlight your text in different colours) and you can toggle between different text size options. Finally, you have quotation mode, which makes your text look like
this
In the next section, you can choose the alignment of your text to be left, centre, right and justify. Then, you can add numbers or bullet points as well. Finally, you will be able to add links meaning that when people click the text, it will link to a different place. To do this, you can choose on the side "Web address" and input a specific web address, or you can select "Section" and then choose a specific section of the post you would like to link the image to. In the next button, if you need to type in some code, you can add a "code snippet" which will appear in a grey box.

The first icon in the footer indicates that you can add pictures. You can do this by uploading images from your computer. Once you add an image, you can click on it and will get many options at the top.

One option is to choose the size, for which you can choose "Original ratio," "Small fit" or "Best fit." Alternatively, to change the size, simply use the two open circles on either side of the image. In the next small section, you can choose the alignment. This can be left, centre or right alignment. In the next section, you can choose the gear icon to change the settings. This is what you will see when you do this:

For the image, you can add a caption, text in case the image is not able to load on the other side and select options regarding the image.
In the next button, you can add a link to your image, meaning that when people click the image, it will link to a different place. To do this, you can choose on the side "Web address" and input a specific web address, or you can select "Section" and then choose a specific section of the post you would like to link the image to. Finally, when you click on the icon with two arrows, you will be able to replace the image, and when you click the bin, you can delete it.
The second icon in the footer indicates adding videos. You can upload videos directly from your computer or can paste in video links from Youtube, Vimeo or Facebook. Like with the image, you can change the size and the alignment for videos with links. For those without links where you upload a video, you also have the gear icon which will allow you to give/not give people the option to download your video.
The next option which you have is an option to add file uploads. Here you can first select a file from your computer. Then, as in the images, you can change the ratio of the file download button, and can also change the alignment in the next section in the box which appears above the upload button when clicked.
If you have multiple sections in your post, you may want to divide them with lines. For this, you can add dividers to your post. When you add a divider, you can click on it and will get a bar with things you can change:

Firstly, you can choose your line style, which includes a single line, double line, dashed line and dotted line. In the next section, you can choose how long the line should be. After this, you can choose the alignment of the line followed by the option to delete the line.
After this, if you are instructing a coding course, you can add a "code snippet" which will allow you to type in a grey box.
You also have the option after this to add GIFs and Emojis.
Once you have finished your post, you can click "Publish."
If you made a post and not just a comment, you will see your post on the class forums. You can see the number of comments, views, likes and who last posted on the thread, Finally, you will see 3 dots. When clicked, they will open a menu.

Should you wish to, you can unfollow your post here. You can also follow other people's threads there. When you click "Share post" you will have the ability to share the link to your post via social media. Please note, however, that people will need to log in to see the post and sign up for the class. It is strictly prohibited for you to share the contents of any post on social media etc. You will also have the option to report a post which seems to be of malicious intent or inappropriate. You will not, however, be able to pin, close or move the post (this functionality is reserved for admins only). For your own posts, you will be able to edit and delete them.
The same menu will appear if you click on the 3 dots by your comment.
